Christine's Story
singing and writing songs that have folky directness, with a Pop edge
Christine Winchester is a Philadelphia-area singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose folk-pop sound blends intimate storytelling, theatrical vocal clarity, and uplifting hooks. Drawing from the emotional vulnerability of classic singer-songwriters and the energy of modern pop and indie rock, she writes songs built on hope, resilience, and empowerment that connect directly with her listeners. She accompanies her strong vocal performance on acoustic guitar, piano, and occasionally ukulele and lap dulcimer.
For Christine, lyrics are the emotional center of the song. Her writing pairs dynamic melodies and memorable hooks with messages that are meant to be understood, felt, and inspirational.
On stage, Christine moves easily between wailing cathartic blues, making playful observations about life, and belting emotional anthems that invite audiences to feel engaged, empowered and ready to believe in what is possible.
MUSIC AND RELEASES
Christine has performed her original songs live since the mid-1980s, often with her husband and music partner, David C. Perry, as the folk/pop duo Winchester/Perry. They have appeared frequently at folk clubs, house concerts, restaurants, and coffeehouses. They have also been the featured guests on radio folk shows and podcasts. Christine and David are very active in the regional songwriter and folk music communities through their decades-long involvement with the Philadelphia Area Songwriters Alliance (PASA), of which Christine is a co-chair, and the Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS). In 2024 she and her husband were proud to be accepted into the PFS’s Musical Artist Cooperative.
In 2026, they launched their own label, Silver Acorn Records, as the home for all their musical ventures, with a Winchester/Perry album planned for the near future.
Christine’s song “Today I Like the Rain” was selected for Declaration, a compilation album produced by the Philadelphia Area Songwriters Alliance, where she also appeared as a vocalist on two additional tracks. This 1999 project is only available on Spotify.
In 2020, Christine began recording her original songs at home, learning the creative tools that led to co-producing her debut studio album, Pinch Me (2026, Rotation Records). Her next project, slated for early 2027, is already in development and will bring a rockier edge to her eclectic sound.

Songwriting is in christine's blood
Christine began writing songs as a teenager after years of piano lessons and teaching herself guitar, later winning the talent portion of a high school pageant with an original song. Musicality runs through her family, from her father’s professional ragtime piano playing to her mother’s love of singing standards from the Great American Songbook, musical theater and the big band era.
Christine’s early life took her from Brooklyn to New Jersey to Reading, PA, and then to the Adirondack Mountains near Lake George, NY, where she helped her family run a rustic campground. Campfire sing-alongs helped shape her lifelong connection to folk music. She later studied Theater Arts at the State University of New York and brought her expressive performance skills to the Philadelphia area, where she has lived since 1985.
Beyond music, she runs a longstanding real estate practice, enjoys life in her 100-year-old Victorian home in Norristown, PA, and loves to spend time and play games with her husband, daughter, and extended family.
